Empowering Coffee Farmers in West Java: Transforming Sustainable Supply Chains with Senang Eco
ESG Strategy & Advisory

Senang Eco worked alongside GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN and ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd. in advancing the Sustainable and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains in Indonesia (SASCI+) initiative, focusing on smallholder farmers in West Java’s State Forest Areas. The project aims to improve farmer productivity, strengthen resilience to climate change, and promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
Through this initiative, we contributed to empowering farmer self-organization while integrating gender-sensitive sustainability approaches. The program also enhances market access by supporting traceability systems, smallholder registration (eSTDB), and sustainability certification, key components in aligning with evolving global standards such as EUDR.
Our role centered on delivering evidence-based insights. We conducted field research using participatory rural appraisal methods, including key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and transect walks. These approaches ensured that local perspectives directly informed the analysis.
In addition, we developed product knowledge to support policy development at national and regional levels, while assessing coffee farmers’ readiness to comply with EUDR requirements.
This work reflects Senang Eco’s commitment to bridging policy, practice, and impact, supporting inclusive, sustainable agricultural systems in Indonesia.
